It's never too early to talk college football! Each and every week there are big games, interesting matchup and rivalries. There are games that will influence water cooler talk for the next 365 all the way to games that might influence the national championship picture at the end of the season. Let's look at the top 5 games and a player to watch from each team for Week 1 of the college football season.

WEEK 1:  LSU @ Florida State

#3

West Virginia @ Penn State

West Virginia hasn't been great in quite some time. Penn State faithful are talking about national championships. So why am I looking forward to this game so much? Because West Virginia has 4 solid offensive lineman and a very good running back. While Penn State is riding the hopes of a brand new and limited experience quarterback. Ingredients of an upset are there.

Penn State Player To Watch:  Drew Allar (QB)

The Nittany Lions have a lot riding on the young signal caller.

West Virginia:  Zach Frazier (C)

Frazier is an All-American caliber interior offensive lineman.

#2

Clemson @ Duke

Duke is feeling real good about their football program right now, and rightfully so. They finished 9-4 last season and just hauled in their top recruiting class ever. Obviously Clemson is a very stiff test. After missing the playoffs last year, they are a talented team feeling like they have something to prove.

Duke Player To Watch:  Riley Leonard (QB)

Leonard may have the ability to carry the Blue Devils to one of their biggest wins of this century.

Clemson Player To Watch:  Tyler Davis (DT)

Davis is a powerful defensive lineman that would have been drafted in he'd have declared.

#1

LSU @ Florida State

The Camping World Kickoff will feature 2 teams with CFP type goals. LSU is coming off an SEC West championship while Florida State rides a pretty nice winning streak and their first 10 win season since 2016. . One of these teams will walk away from Week 1 with a big early ding in their resume.

Florida State Player To Watch:  Jared Verse (DE)

Verse is one of the best edge rushers in college football.

LSU's Player To Watch:  Jayden Daniels (QB)

Could Daniels be in the early Heisman talk with a big game and a W against a quality week 1 opponent?
