South Oakland A's Feature Tradition And Talent

The South Oakland A's are a travel baseball team that carries a lot of clout in the state of Michigan. as summer baseball has heated up, it's easy to see that once again this program brings top level talent.

Let's first look at what has made them a top tier baseball program in the midwest. The South Oakland A's came to existence in 2003 and have won over 100 tournaments. The program has put some players at the highest levels of the game. Names like Garrett Schilling, Andrew Marra, and Brett Munde have passed through an A's dugout. Greg Fettes, an A's alum, is now the varsity baseball coach of a local prep team, Troy High School. They also feature more than a handful of former players manning the college ranks.

The South Oakland A's once again feature some of the elite talent in the state. Let's take a look at a couple of the talented players that can be found on the South Oakland A's roster this summer.

Sawyer Cooney (2025, P / MIF, Bloomfield Hills High School, Michigan)

Cooney has been throwing heat lately. He hit 90 mph velocity at the PBR Michigan Summer Invite. His pitches have had a ton of movement as well. Cooney has been fooling hitters with his off speed tosses as well.

Evan Stojanovic (2024, RHP / SS / 3B, Birmingham Groves High School, Michigan)

Stojanovic has looked very good at the plate and on the mound. He righty showed power with a blast over the leftfield wall. The ball came off his bat like a rocket. Stojanovic has a big arm to match his bat. Reports are that he's been able to reach above 90 on his heat. Stojanovic has been working the plate well.

Parker Ciurla (2024, LHP / OF, Athens High School, Michigan)

Ciurla has been playing some very good baseball this summer. He's been one of the most dangerous lefties on the mound in the state in my opinion. He keeps the ball by the plate and strikes out a lot of batters.
