Monday Night Matchups

We have 2 games to look forward to tonight. We start with the New Orleans Saints visiting the Carolina Panthers with a 7:15 kick and then the Cleveland Browns are at the Pittsburgh Steeler starting at 8:15.

The Saints are 1-0, coming off a 16-15 win over the Tennessee Titans. Meanwhile the Panthers are 0-1 after struggling in a 24-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

The Browns come into tonight at 1-0 after an impressive 24-3 victory against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Steelers are reeling a bit after suffering a 30-7 defeat at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers.

We're going to look at 1 specific matchup from each of tonight's games that we think will play a huge role in deciding the results.

SAINTS AT PANTHERS

David Carr vs. Bryce Young

In my humble opinion, this game could very well be decided by which quarterback plays better. Carr looked pretty comfortable with his new team and played some good football. He finished the game throwing for 305 yards with 1 TD and 1 interception. Bryce Young looked just like a rookie, and like one that many of us questioned on draft day. In week 1, he had an under 50% completion percentage while throwing for 146 yards, a TD and 2 interceptions. I think David Carr comes out on top of this matchup tonight and the Saints get the win.

BROWNS AT STEELERS

Browns rushing defense vs. Najee Harris

The Browns rushing defense was pretty bad last season ranking 25th in the league in both rushing yards allowed and yards per carry. That being said, in their week 1 win they held the Bengals to just 75 yards rushing in the contest. The Pittsburgh Steelers fell behind quickly last week played from behind the entirety of the game. This helped to make Harris basically a nonfactor. He finished with just 6 rushing attempts for 31 yards. I think Harris flips the script this week and helps the Steelers to a needed week 2 win.
