One of the most interesting parts of every college football season is watching the Heisman Trophy Race take place. Of the last 10 Heisman winners, 8 have been quarterbacks with a wide receiver and running back sprinkled in for good measure. Let's look at who Kamp's Korner has as their current top 10 for the Heisman Trophy next season.
#10: Jared Verse (Edge, Florida State)
Verse was limited early due to injury last year, but finished with a bang. He has a scary combination of base power, hand control and explosiveness. Elite edge rushers can find their way to the finals for the Heisman Trophy.
#9: Joe Milton (QB, Tennessee)
There has been a lot of Joe Milton talk this offseason. If he can match the hype, he'll move up this list. Milton has a cannon or an arm and has the potential to make a lot of huge plays with his arm.
#8: Quinshon Judkins (RB, Ole Miss)
Judkins rushed for 1567 yards in his freshman season and was a star in a prolific Ole Miss offense. If he can light the field on fire again this season, it's easy to see an elite SEC running being a legitimate Heisman dandidate.
#7: Marvin Harrison Jr. (WR, Ohio State)
Harrison Jr. had 1263 yards receiving with 14 TD;s last season and has a chance to be the most prolific receiver in the country. He'll be breaking in a new QB, but an end of the season matchup with Michigan could go a long ways.
#6: Bo Nix (QB, Oregon)
Nix was one of the best players in the country and on a Heisman Trophy finalist path, until an injury on November 12 set him back. He has games against Washington and USC that could and should have huge implications in he Heisman Trophy race.
#5: Jordan Travis (QB, Florida State)
Travis is a big time talent that should bring some big numbers to the table at the end of the season. He had 3214 yards passing to go with 24 TD passes. Florida State and LSU have an opening season matchup that should play a big role for these Heisman hopefuls.
#4: Jayden Daniels (QB, LSU)
Daniels is dangerous with his arms and his legs. He finished last season with 2913 yards in the air and 885 on the ground. If he can increase his passing TD total and get some big wins, he's a good bet to be a finalist or winner.
#3: Blake Corum (RB, Michigan)
Corum was probably a Heisman Trophy finalist last year until a late season injury tripped him up. He has a loaded offensive line and even sharing the load with Donovan Edwards, he should get the carries needed.
#2: Michael Penix Jr. (QB, Washington)
Penix Jr. is a dynamic QB that returns 2 1000 yard receivers from last season (Jalen McMillan and Rome Odunze). There's a possibility of a huge statement game, or even a Heisman elimination game, on November 4 when Washington square off with USC.
#1: Caleb Williams (QB, USC)
Williams will be looking to become only the second 2 time winner of the Heisman Trophy. The addition of Dorian Singer and his 1000 plus yards receiving at Arizona could be a big help in his Heisman chase.
