The transfer portal has definitely changed the landscape of college athletics. It's possible to fill a lot of holes or bolster a strength through the college football transfer portal.
Erick All (Michigan - Iowa)
All was pretty darn good before an injury last year with the Wolverines. Regarded as a pass catching tight end, his prospects could be very bright at Iowa. The Hawkeyes have had a run of producing some really good players at this position. Not to mention that All could be catching passes from his old running mate in Ann Arbor, quarterback Cade McNamara.
Arik Gilbert (Georgia - Nebraska)
Gilbert has the size and a very impressive frame as well. He's a versatile athlete that can line up and play out of a lot of different formations. He's a true pass catching threat out of the position. Gilbert can give the Huskers a lot of options and could make a huge impact at Nebraska, who has struggled some offensively over the years.
Var'keyes Gumms (North Texas - Arkansas)
Arkansas lost their highly regarded tight end Trey Knox in the portal to South Carolina. The loss could have hurt, but Gumms is a really nice consolation prize that undoubtedly fill a need. Gumms could really thrive in the Arkansas offense. He's coming off a 458 yard and 5 touchdown season with North Texas.
McCallan Castles (UC Davis - Tennessee)
Castles is coming off 2 300 plus receiving yard seasons and back to back 2nd team All Big Sky selections. He has a very intriguing combination of size and physicality, wrapped up into a tight end that runs good routes and can snag the ball out of the air. Tennessee notoriously slings the ball down the field which should provide Castles with ample opportunities to make plays as a pass catcher.
Cam McCormick (Oregon - Miami (FL))
McCormick is entering his eighth year of eligibility. Yes, you read the right. Eight year. In 2017 he showed his upside, playing in every game for the Ducks. At that point injuries took control of his college football career. Last year he played the entire season for the first time since his freshman year. His stats were modest, with 10 catches for 66 yards. But here's the thing, McCormick has a slew of talent, years of experience being an on campus athlete and a team in Miami that's desperate for contributions from the TE position.
