Recent Notable Performances From Underclassmen

Ellie VanDusen (2027, G, Kalamazoo Christian)

VanDusen was excellent in a hard fought win against Lawton. She finished with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals. The well rounded game of the sophomore star is very impressive.

Mackenzie Turner (2028, G, Eisenhower)

Turner continues to show that she's a top notch freshman in Michigan. Last week she had herself a game against GPN. Turner scored 21 points and added 4 steals and 4 assists.

Stella Stotz (2028, G, Salem)

Stotz has impressed so far through her freshman season. She played a high IQ game, leading Salem to a win against Novi. Stotz handled the ball and got it to it's spots while adding 14 points in the process.

Harlem Simpson (2027, G, Birmingham Groves)

Simpson is an electric guard and it was easy to see, even in a loss to Royal Oak. She hit all corners of the stat sheet with 18 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and threw in a block for good measure.

Ella Rizzo (2027, G, Brandon)

Brandon is building and Rizzo is showing that she'll be a key part of that. She was solid in defeat against Lake Fenton. Rizzo had 16 points and 6 assists, showing why she's a top notch young point guard.

Mack Reid (2027, PG, Marian)

Reid's team was defeated, but they fought hard and Reid led the way. She finished the game with a 23 point and 10 rebound double-double. Reid added 7 assists as well.

Mia McGregor (2027, G, Mio)

McGregor has been up to her tricks again. Pick a game and you can throw her performance in there. How about a 41 point and 10 rebound game? Oh yeah, she added 4 blocks, 4 assists, and 3 steals.

Jayla Laster (2028, G, Heritage)

Laster has stood out as a freshman all season long and did again in a Heritage win over Bay City Western. The tough guard scored 12 points, grabbed 5 boards and dished out 3 assists.

Avery Hannah (2027, G/F, Haslett)

Hannah has such a patient game for a freshman. She was excellent as a shooter in a win against St. Johns. Hannah buried 5 triples, on just 9 attempts, for her 15 point total.

Taylor DeKuiper (2027, G, Fremont)

DeKuiper is catching a lot of eyes with the way that she's playing in her sophomore season. In a dominating win against Manistee, she went off for a career high 23 points.

Allie Crighton (2027, G, Orchard Lake St. Mary's)

Crighton was a key component of a 72-61 win against Marian. She continued her hot shooting on her way to 17 points. She also dished out 8 assists.

Brooklyn Covert (2027, G, Clarkston)

Covert has had an impressive sophomore season. She helped Clarkston to a big 62-48 win against a very good Avondale squad. Covert led the way with 20 points.

Lainey Claramunt (2028, G, Salem)

We're going to double dip here with Salem, but when you're a freshman and you bring it on the defensive end, you get publicity. Claramunt racked up 6 steals and 12 points in a Salem victory over Novi.

Sydney Black (2027, G, East Lansing)

If you don't think that right now Sydney Black is a top 25 sophomore, you may be in the wrong profession. She scorched the nets and led the way to a victory against Okemos. Black finished with 31 points and added 7 rebounds. 

Cece Arico (2027, G, Detroit Country Day)

Perfect example of one of the best players in the state playing like it. Arico had a 14 point and 12 rebound double-double in a close loss.
