PREVIEW AND PLAYERS TO WATCH - DISTRICT 12

District 12 will feature some talented teams and players. It should be a very entertaining bracket to watch and track. Kamp's Korner is going to take a look at the games, provide a prediction and give you some players to watch.

1ST ROUND:

Jackson Northwest vs. Jackson

Jackson Northwest picked up a tight 3 point win early in the season. They have been playing their best basketball late in the season, winning 2 in a row and 4 of their last 6

Prediction - Jackson Northwest

SEMIFINAL

Holt vs. Jackson Northwest

Holt finished the season with a 15-7 record that included some quality wins. If they play 'Holt basketball' they have a great chance of making the championship game. Jackson Northwest has to extend their end of the season run of solid play. If they keep their turnover numbers low and key in defensively, it will greatly help their cause.

Prediction - Holt

Mason vs. Okemos

I believe that this has the potential to be a great matchup. Okemos has some shooters and some highly efficient offensive players. They enter the playoffs with a 9-13 record. Mason features a collection of quality guards and wings and currently have a 9-13 record that includes a 10 point win against Okemos.

Prediction - Mason

CHAMPIONSHIP:

Holt vs. Okemos

Holt has a nice mix of veterans and youth as well as a star and soon to be stars. They have both the results and the eye test that show a deep postseason run is very possible. I'm talking Breslin Center deep. Screen shot it if you'd like. That being said, Okemos is a team that you HAVE ti take very seriously. If they start feeling their jumpers and grooving offensively, they can come home with a trophy.

Prediction - Holt

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

Lucy Bivens (2025, F, Jackson Northwest)

Bivens is an underrated player that is capable of having big games and helping her team pick up W's. She's shown the ability to put up 20 plus point games. Bivens has the ability to connect with her jumper from beyond the arc as well as force turnovers on D.

Alexis Bennett (2025, F, Jackson)

I think that Bennett could have a big say in the first game. She's a strong player with good feet on both ends of the floor. Bennett has a really smooth looking jumper, especially off the catch.

Allison Metzger (2025, G/F, Holt)

In my opinion, Metzger has had one of the best seasons in the state of Michigan when considering effectiveness, efficiency and influence. She currently sits at number 12 on the all time scorers list at Holt. Metzger recently committed to Bethel University.

Ava Ruster (2025, G, Mason)

Ruster is a pure point guard that can handle the ball and pass against pressure with very few turnovers. She can play as a pass first point guard, but can also shoot from beyond the arc to keep the defense honest. Ruster can use her handles to get to the rim as well.

Elizabeth Schafer (2026, G/F, Okemos)

Schafer is an excellent junior that can definitely help Okemos win a district title. We mentioned Okemos and shooting above, so here we are. Schafer is shooting efficiently and at high percentage, thanks to her own hard work and some time with #MakeShots.
