NAME: Zahra Richardson
CLASS: 2028
HEIGHT: 5'7"
POSITION: Guard
SCHOOL: Ferndale
STRENGTHS:
- 3 point shooter: Richardson has the potential to be a long term dangerous shooter from behind the arc. She shoots especially well off the bounce. Richardson can pull up and bury a triple at any time, which forces the defense to account for basically past half court.
- Shot creation: Richardson is shifty with the ball and can create her own looks at the rim. She has nice start-stop speed and ability to change direction with the ball in her hands. Richardson can go 1-on-1 and get a shot.
- Mature game for a freshman: She just has a really high grade to skill set ratio. Richardson can handle the speed and the physicality of the high school game already. As she puts her skills together and finds strengths and ways to attack, her game can and should continue to take off.
NOTES:
Zahra Richardson is an exciting young player entering high school basketball here in Michigan. The tools are there, and with continuing work to add and refine, it's scary to think of the player that she could become for Ferndale. Richardson is one of the more dynamic shooting freshman in the class of 2028. She's not just a spot up shooter that can fill it up off the catch. Instead, Richardson can get the ball and create scoring opportunties from the perimeter. She's probably underrated as a ball handler as well. Richardson may look like a shooting guard this season, but long term, I could see her utilizing her handles and being trusted with the offense as a primary ball handler. She will be very dangerous as creative sharp-shooting guard either way. Richardson is a prospect that next level coaches will want to be aware of and track her development as a player.
