Divine Child welcomed Woodhaven for an intriguing matchup. Divine Child used tremendous passing and gritty defense to come out on top by a score of 48-33. We're going to look at some players that left impressions on us at Kamp's Korner for their performance in this game.
Lizzy Wilhelmsen (2027, PG, Divine Child)
Let's just say this - If Wilhelmsen plays like this on a regular basis, she'll wear a college jersey someday. She could really attack off the bounce and specifically showed off a nice hesitation move with change of speed that led to a layup. Wilhelmsen was also able to push the pace off the bounce. She was willing to work off the ball as well. An example of this was when Wilhelmsen cut to open space at the rim and drew a foul. She gave the ball up with confidence that it would come back if she was in position. That happened with good team ball movement. A specific example of this was when Wilhelmsen picked up a steal, kicked it cross court and went at the rim, then got it back for the layup.
Lila Megyesi (2027, G, Woodhaven)
Megyesi was outstanding in the game against Divine Child. She's a really nice underclassman prospect. She was a physically tough player that seemed to be up for any challenge. Megyesi was very comfortable and effective playing through contact. Early in the game, she turned 2 offensive rebounds into a bucket. She then picked up another 2 points with a physical bucket in traffic under the rim. Megyesi was able to put the ball on the floor and go through 2 defenders with her right hand. She did a nice job attacking space when she saw a double lane and turned it into a right handed layup. Megyesi even added a couple catch and shoot 3's and a steal with a coast to coast finish.
Erin McCormick (2025, PG, Divine Child)
McCormick had a big time influence in her team's success against Woodhaven. Let's start with her defense. She closed out quick and high on opposing shooters and even picked up a block on one early in the game. McCormick showed active and effective hands on defense that came with the ability to create some havoc. Offensively, she impressed us with her ability to pass the ball. She had a swooping righty drive with an accurate kick out to a shooter. McCormick also threw a nice bounce pass dump off feed to the paint from the high post.
Spencer Davidson (2027, SF, Woodhaven)
There was some really nice young talent in this game and Davidson fits that bill. She's a physically strong player that can and will use that as a strength. Davidson was a very unselfish player that looked for good opportunities and knew when to move the ball. She had her head up and always scanned down the floor for a chance to push the ball. I liked the way that Davidson played high and stayed high. She attacked rebounds high off the rim. Then on an inbound, she caught it high, kept it high, and flipped it in over the defense.
Samantha Fuhs (2027, SF, Divine Child)
Anybody that's followed me through the course of the last couple years knows that I'm very high on Fuhs as a player and prospect. She just keeps improving all aspects of her game. She's a terrific 2 way player and once again, it was her defense that stood out to me against Woodhaven. Fuhs showed quick hands on defense that allowed to pressure the pass and the dribble. She picked off one pass and took it coast to coast for a bucket. I liked the way she helped on D and could attack from behind and still alter shots.
Lexi Hansen (2025, G/F, Divine Child)
Shooters shoot and Hansen did just that against Woodhaven. I don't keep track of points scored, but my notes say that she she hit FOUR catch and shoot triples. And not from the same spot, but from corner to wing and back the corner. Every team wants and needs someone to fill it up from beyond the arc and it looked like Divine Child has theirs.
