Player Impressions Playoff Version - Dexter V. Ann Arbor Skyline

Dexter picked up a 57-30 District semifinal win against Ann Arbor Skyline. The score doesn't tell the story of the game though. The young Skyline squad hung tough for a while and made some big plays to stay within striking distance. But Dexter just kept applying so much pressure on both ends of the floor. The Dreadnaughts utilized every player on the floor and pulled away in what was a well played and entertaining matchup. Dexter moves on to the title game, but Skyline can feel very good about the future of their program.

We're going to take a closer look at some players that stood out in the Dexter victory.

Alena Blumberg (2025, G, Dexter)

The talented guard actually controlled the game around the rim. She scored on multiple put backs, including drawing a foul and getting to the line on one of them. Blumberg worked off the block and showed she could score over a smaller defender. She even had an offensive rebound that she kicked out to a shooter for an assist. Blumberg scored over a jump stop and step through in the lane. She did show off her jumper with a rhythm catch and shoot 3 from the corner.

Jane Jordan (2028, G/F, Ann Arbor Skyline)

Jordan once again showed that she's such a promising freshman talent. This was the second game in a row that I came away impressed. She anticipated passes and picked up a steal off a pass and multiple deflections. Jordan showed that she can shoot the ball as well. She buried a few triples. One came off a catch shoot and another she came off a screen with an open look and delivered the bucket.

Layla Blumberg (2028, G, Dexter)

Layla Blumberg showed why most consider her an elite freshman talent in the state of Michigan. She was a knockdown shooter off the catch last night, burying multiple triples including 1 directly off an inbound play. But Blumberg wasn't just a scorer for Dexter. I was also impressed with her ability to find teammates and pass the ball. She reversed it on the perimeter which led to an assist on a teammate's triple. Blumberg showed the ability to touch the paint off the dribble drive, draw the defense and kick it out to open shooters. She added a steal and score for good measure.

Sadie Jordan (2028, G/F, Ann Arbor Skyline)

Jordan followed up a great game in the first round with another solid performance in the semifinals. She battled all game long and earned some good looks at the rim because of it. Jordan had a catch over the top of her defender on an inbound that she scored on. She was able to put the ball on the floor and score with a power drive. Jordan had a nice kick out pass off the block to a shooter for an assist.

Lizzie Lewis (2025, G, Dexter)

I was really impressed with what Lewis brought to the table in the win against Skyline. She seemed more than willing to utilize a balanced skill set and play whatever role was needed. Lewis had a nice post feed over the top and actively went after rebounds. She hit a couple catch and shoot 3's. I think the play that summed up Lewis' performance best was when she got back on defense and picked up a stop in transition and turned it into an assist on the other end.

Abby Yuan (2025, F, Ann Arbor Skyline)

Yuan ended her high school basketball career the right way. She has a lot to be proud of when she looks back on this week. She's just a team player through and through. Yuan scored twice of hard earned put back buckets. She was a solid screener for wings and guards in this game. Yuan even added a block on the defensive end.

Kendall Cabana (2025, G/F, Dexter)

Cabana showed a lot of versatility on the other end. She was a true multi level scorer in this game. Cabana had a couple catch and shoot corner triples. She found a lane and attacked without the ball earning herself a bucket on a cut and catch. Later in the game, Cabana found open space, collected the pass and finished with a high percentage layup.

Addison Chase (2026, G, Dexter)

Chase was more than solid in the win against Skyline. Let's start with her defense. She showed a nose for the ball on that end of the floor and had at least 2 steals in the game. Offensively, she saw the court well and showed the ability to play through contact. Chase scored off a put back bucket and a catch and shoot wing triple.
