Player Impressions Playoff Version - Chelsea v. Western

This was a highly anticipated matchup between 2 of the better teams that I'd seen all season. Western battled to a 10-9 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. But Chelsea responded with a huge defensive second quarter, allowing just 4 points and taking a 21-14 lead into the half. Western made runs throughout the second half, but the Bulldogs always had the answer. Chelsea came away with a 52-35 win and a District Championship.

There were highly skilled players all over the court last night in Chelsea. We're going to take a closer look at some of the players that excelled in Chelsea's victory against Parma Western.

Avery Lay (2025, G/F, Chelsea)

People may jump to the offensive stats, because well, they were really good. But I think her biggest impact came on the defensive end of the floor. Lay had a deflection that turned into points and she had a steal that she turned into a fast break bucket. She had a huge momentum stealing swipe with 2:50 left in the game and her team up 42-35. I think a key aspect of this game was the way Lay defended her individual matchups as well. She was active on the glass throughout the game and she was able to get downhill and score at the rim.

Bayli Stewart (2025, G, Parma Western)

Stewart has provided some of the best basketball I've seen this season. The senior should hold her head high. She was tough last night and kept attacking from tip to buzzer. Stewart anticipated passes and stepped and got her hands on a few. She played well off screens, even using 1 to clear a path for an assist. Stewart attacked the rim and showed some creativity with a righty drive and reverse finish.

Aleeah Wells (2027, G, Chelsea)

I was lucky enough to see wells play back when she was a middle schooler. She was talented back then, but wow has she refined her game. In the win against Western, she showed that she's a true multi level scorer. Wells buried a wing triple and shook her defender with her handles which led to trip to the free throw line. She also drew contact and a foul on a mid range jumper and had a showtime finish on a layup.

Rayah Hitt (2026, G, Parma Western)

Hitt and her performance stood out in Chelsea. I think she was at her best last night when she got downhill with the ball. Hitt showed blow by speed to the right when she picked up an and 1. Later in the game, Hitt drew a foul on almost an instant replay of the and 1. I was also impressed with the way that Hitt saw the floor. She had a big steal that she turned directly into an assist on the other end.

Maggie McKale (2025, G/F, Chelsea)

McKale is the type of player that championship teams need. She was a very willing and very effective screener for her teammates. McKale's activity and effort led to looks at the rim. She scored off a righty layup on a quick 2 dribble drive and a contested flip in over the top of the defender. McKale scored off multiple power moves, going up and through defenders at the rim.

Aubree Allen (2026, F, Parma Western)

I came away so impressed once again with what Allen brings to the table. She had 6 rebounds and 5 points in the first quarter, which forced some big adjustments for the Bulldogs. She had to have ended the game with at least 11 or 12 boards. Maybe more. Allen showed the ability to score over her right shoulder. She also showed range on her jumper, hitting a catch and shoot triple.
