Player Impressions Playoff Version - Ann Arbor Skyline v. Ann Arbor Huron

The playoffs started last night in the state of Michigan. This included a rivalry game between 2 schools sharing the same city, Skyline and Huron. This was an intriguing matchup between 2 young teams that are building bright futures. The game was tight and competitive throughout, with Skyline toughing out the win 42-39.

We're going to take a closer look at some of the talented players that stood out in this contest.

Sadie Jordan (2028, G/F, Ann Arbor Skyline)

Jordan is a really skilled freshman that will be making noise over the next few years. A couple big things stood out. The first was her ability to pass the ball. She had good vision from the paint and was able to kick the ball out with accuracy. From the perimeter, she was excellent passing over the top and hitting cutters or feeding the post. Jordan was also very comfortable working off the high post where she could attack the rim with a 2 dribble drive or find teammates in scoring positions. She was able to score in a variety of ways. Jordan was excellent finishing over her left shoulder under the rim, had a put back bucket and a steal and score just as a few examples.

Chloe Frierson (2028, G, Ann Arbor Huron)

Frierson was impressive in this game. I'd say that she was the fast player on the court, both with and without the ball. Frierson was able to go coast to coast with the ball twice. She did it once off a steal that she converted into a layup and another time where she earned a fast break bucket using pure straight line speed. Frierson has the potential to turn into a top notch defender as well. She showed that she could pressure the ball on the perimeter and force a turnover. Frierson also showed off her jumper when she hit a deep 2 from the top.

Jane Jordan (2028, G/F, Ann Arbor Skyline)

Jordan showed some real talent last night. I liked the diversity in her offensive game. She caught a post feed over her defender with strong hands and turned it into a bucket. Jordan also used her pivot foot and a decisive step through to create points. She scored 3 times pushing the ball in transition. Jordan even scored n an impressive ball fake and take. She also added a catch and shoot corner triple.

Jordyn Johnson (2025, F/C, Ann Arbor Huron)

Johnson worked hard under the rim and deserves a lot of credit for the way she played in this game. She was very active on the glass from tip to buzzer. This helped her get high percentage looks at the rim. She had a couple layups and a lefty swooping lay in when she was working with her back to the basket. Johnson also went over her left shoulder and finished when she attacked the defense with her back to the basket.

Abby Yuan (2025, F, Ann Arbor Skyline)

The lone senior on the team had herself a game in the first round of the playoffs. Yuan played with grit and toughness. She drew multiple charges and 'little things' like that are what wins tight games like last night. Yuan's toughness helped her rebound bigger than her height. She was able to score off a post bucket through a defender and a weakside put back.

Alia Anthony (2026, G, Ann Arbor Huron)

Anthony has some very real talent and upside as a floor general. She was very comfortable as a primary ball handler as the initiator of the offense. Anthony showed the ability to feed the post in a half court set. She was at her best offensively when attacking double lanes and getting downhill with a path.

Josie Lovelace (2028, G, Ann Arbor Skyline)

This is why scouts don't just scout points scored. Lovelace is a talented player that was a steadying force on the perimeter for Skyline. She was a good decision maker with the ball and always went to it, giving her teammates an outlet under pressure. Lovelace picked up critical free throws, hitting 2 out of 3 when she was fouled on a 3 point attempt.
