Player Impressions - Novi @ Walled Lake Northern

Novi recently traveled to Walled Lake Northern. This was a competitive game that featured a collection of talented players and prospects from both teams. Walled Lake Northern eventually pulled away for an impressive 62-32 victory. Let's look at some of the impressions that players left to us at Kamp's Korner.

Amal Younes (2025, PG, Walled Lake Northern)

I've been high on Younes as a prospect for some time now. I thought she was terrific in grassroots season this summer and she's more than carried that on this high school season. Younes torched the nets in this game against Novi, totaling 30 points in the game. Yes, she is a stone cold shooter. I counted 5 catch and shoot triples (6 overall?). That's remarkable. Even more remarkable was that her shooting and scoring probably wasn't even the most impressive part of her game against Novi. I loved the way she played with her head up constantly scanning the floor. Younes always looked up the floor and tried to create with down the floor passing. She had handfuls of impressive swing passes. Speaking of those swing passes, Younes has one of the most accurate and strong 1 handed passes that I've seen this season. She even showed the ability to feed the post with the pass.

Sydney Hartke (2027, SG, Novi)

Hartke caught my eye in this game. She was able to get a bucket at all 3 levels in the game. Hatke hit a triple late in the game, but it was her work in the mid range and around the rim that stood out the most to me. She did a really nice job of finding open space, hitting it and turning into offensive opportunities. Hartke had a pretty mid range jumper off the catch.

Marcie Hunter (2025, F, Walled Lake Northern)

Hunter was really solid against Novi and in my opinion a key part of the win. She showed some real offensive versatility. Hunter attacked the rim off the cut on multiple occasions that turned in to catches and scores. She showed a high game IQ by sneaking behind the defense, catching a feed and converting on an easy layup.

Dayana Payne (2025, G/F, Novi)

Payne had a lot to be proud of with her performance in the game. She was really active on the glass, especially early in the game. Payne just seemed to always be around the ball and always in position to make some type of play. She really brought some energy and speed to the game. Payne showed that she can score in traffic as well.

Layne Biggers (2026, PF, Walled Lake Northern)

I cane away from this game VERY impressed with Biggers. I think that she's a solid player that has a ton of potential and upside to her game. Biggers was excellent working off the high post. WLN was able to feed her the ball at the free throw line and create a path to the post feed through her. Biggers also showed the ability to pass out of the paint. She was able to score both of put backs and off of post feeds to her.

Mady Rabe (2027, F, Novi)

Rabe is a prospect to keep an eye on. The underclassman has a lot to work with. Rabe can play a powerful game and can get good looks at the rim off the glass. Rabe had 2 put back buckets in this game. She was also able to play through contact.

Zeinab Younes (2028, PG, Walled Lake Northern)

Younes is a really high quality young player. She's beyond her years in the way she handles the ball and the decisions she makes with it. Younes showed that she could kick the ball to shooters, could handle the ball in traffic and while under pressure and could feed the post with the pass.
