Notre Dame Prep visited Shrine in a game highlighted by quality defense matched up with 2 patient offenses that were willing to find good looks at the rim. Shrine ended up on the winning side of the scoreboard, earning a hard fought victory by a score of 47-42. We're going to take a closer look at some prospects that made an impression in the game.
Tess Tillman (2025, G, Shrine)
We mentioned patience on offense above and that's exactly what Tillman was. She knew the shots would come and never forced bad looks just to get a look. Tillman showed that she can attack the rim off the bounce, the best part being that she can switch hands with ease mid drive. She's a dangerous shooter and that showed in her 24 point output in this game. Tillman connected on catch and shoot triples from the corner and the wing. She even used a shot fake and a side step to create space on 1 of her 3's. Tillman was an asset defensively as well. She played good help D and recovered quickly on the dribble pick up. This forced the ball left and eventually led to a turnover.
Kaylyn Sowers (2026, G, Notre Dame Prep)
Sowers went off for 30 points in the game, but the first thing I noticed had nothing to do with offense. It was her ability to play through and go over top of a screen. I also noticed her ability to help on defense and cut off a dribble drive. Sowers also had multiple deflections and steals in this game. At least 4 of her points came directly off defense with a steal and score. Another righty layup was off of a turnover. Sowers can flat out shoot as well. She showed deep range on her jumper and was very smooth and comfortable off the catch. That being sad, Sowers hit a big wing 3 off the bounce too.
Summer Smith (2027, F, Shrine)
Smith is a fun prospect to watch play. She bring a lot of effort and determination to the floor with her. Smith showed that she can play a physical brand of basketball and that she can play through contact. She had 6 points on the night and 4 of the game from the free throw line. Smith also showed that she can make herself a threat in the open floor when she hustled and earned a transition layup.
Audrey Simon (2026, G, Notre Dame Prep)
Simon had a solid game, showing the ability and willingness to make smart plays that end up having a big influence. She had a nice kick out pass across the court from the paint that turned into an assist on a 3 pointer. Simon had a couple offensive rebounds, one that turned into a put back bucket for her. She saw the floor and got behind the defense, where she collected a feed and laid the ball in.
Molly Salerno (2025, G, Shrine)
Salerno was very impressive in the win against Notre Dame Prep. It started with her passing and her defense. Salerno had a nice kick out to the corner from under the rim for an assist. She also had a nice pass on the move in transition that turned into an assist on a teammates open floor layup. Salerno showed the ability to cut to the rim and score as well as finish at the rim when the opportunity arose.
Adriana Lorenz (2025, F, Notre Dame Prep)
I thought Lorenz was HUGE off the bench. She did the little things and made them turn into big things. Lorenz turned defense and forcing turnover directly into offense. She also scored off a putback and a catch and shoot 3 late that pulled her team within 6. Lorenz applied pressure on the baseline that turned into a TO, and eventually a triple by her teammate that got them within 3 points. Then once they were down 3, Lorenz forced another TO with her team within a possession with just a minute left.
Additional notes:
Maya Proctor (2025, F, Shrine)
- Denying in the paint - not allowing clean post feed
Ellie Whalen (2026, G/F, Notre Dame Prep)
- Wall up on D on block!
- Good passer - especially off high post
- Good screener / willing screener
Abby Adams (2025, G, Shrine)
- Catch and shoot 3 + another catch and shoot 3
- Pretty feed to wing cutter for assist
