Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard and Ferndale recently held a joint practice and scrimmage. There was a lot of talent packed in the gym that morning and the players certainly rose to the occasion. Gabriel Richard looked like a state title contender with easily one of the best backcourts in Michigan, featuring a Miss Basketball contender. Ferndale is a program on the rise with exciting young players that attack the game with energy. They have high upside talent all over their roster.
Let's look at some of the players that stood out at the practice and scrimmage.
Charlotte Miller (2025, PG, Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard)
Miller was lights out. Quite frankly, if the Ferris State commit plays consistently at that level she's EASILY one of the best in the state and has a seat at the final table for Miss Basketball. First of all, she showed that she was a leader. Miller was vocal on both ends and wanted the ball in her hands to initiate the offense. She scored in a variety of ways on Saturday. Just as examples, Miller buried a catch and shoot triple from the top, hit a mid range fade away jumper and attacked with her left and converted on a crafty finish. She also showed her ability to distribute. Miller hit the paint and dumped the ball off for an assist and consistently looked up the floor and delivered the ball to teammates that were ahead of the defense.
Gabby Foster (2026, PG, Ferndale)
Foster is a premier point guard in the state of Michigan. She can work the baseline with the ball in her hands as good, or better, than any guard you'll see this year. Foster can attack the baseline with her right hand and either finish at the rim or draw the defense and create for, and dish the ball to, her teammates. Her handles are nothing short of elite. She was very dangerous working left to right with the ball in her hands. She drew the perimeter help and provided teammates with open looks at the rim. I really liked the way that Foster worked off and attacked off dribble handoffs. She showed that she can solid defensively as well, and even turned defense into offense with a steal and assist.
Ava Rodriguez (2026, PG, Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard)
Rodriguez is such a highly skilled guard. She has a reputation as a shooter and that skill was very evident. She hit a near volleyball line triple, and she even looked like she knew it was going in off her hands. Rodriguez used a tough right to left crossover to repeatedly touch the paint. From there, she showed off one of the purest mid range floaters from just inside the free throw line that you'll see this season. She just had so much touch on them. Rodriguez can score at such a high level, but does so very unselfishly.
Iyana Davis (2027, C, Ferndale)
Davis is one of the most exciting young post players. She does a nice job keeping the ball high and above the defense. Both on post feeds and on offensive rebounds, she didn't bring the ball back down and put it in front of a defender, but instead kept it high and went right back up. Davis showed that she can play a power game and finish in the paint through the defense or defender. She has the ability to set solid ball screens and looked very comfortable working off of them.
Cora Williams (2025, PF, Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard)
I absolutely love the way that Cora Williams fits with the roster and her teammates. She just plays so well off the talented guards on the team. Williams is an underrated athlete that can get up and down the floor in a hurry. She simply beat the defense back and collected high percentage layups from the right side of the rim. Williams also went to work on the block with her back to the basket. She used a strong base to earn and maintain position at the rim. Williams used her strength to finish through defenders as well.
Kamaria Page (2025, PG, Ferndale)
First thing is first - Page won the first sprint and finished top 2 every time. You have to love that. On to her game. Page has the ability to let her defense carry the day for her. She's an intense perimeter defender with quick feet and good vision. Page can be a difference maker on that end of the floor and her ability to create turnovers can and will win games. Offensively, Page showed the ability to score at multiple levels with a tough straight line drive and finish and a catch and shoot 3 to go with it.
