D3 Semifinal Stars

The Division 3 semifinals took place yesterday at the Breslin Center. Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest held off Calumet 43-38 to advance to the championship game. Arbor Prep survived a defensive tussle by a score of 31-27 to claim their spot in the finals. Rochester Hills Lutheran will take on Arbor Prep for the state title on Saturday March 22 at the Breslin Center

There were some gritty performances by some very talented players in the Division 3 and 4 semifinal games. Kamp's Korner is going to give you a closer look at some of the semifinal stars.

DIVISION 3

Angela Meggisson (2026, G, Arbor Prep)

Meggisson was magnificent in the Arbor Prep win. She used her ability to handle the ball effectively in traffic to attack the rim and get downhill against Niles Brandywine. But the highlight was when Meggisson wen to the free throw line with a chance to basically win the game. She showed ice in her veins when she went to the stripe and buried both free throw. When you do that in the Final 4, you build a legacy. Meggisson finished the game with a 12 point and 11 rebound double-double.

Morgan Griswold (2025, G, Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest)

Griswold made sure that the semifinal game wouldn't be her last. She led her team to a win by securing a 12 point and 11 rebound double-double. As far as her scoring, she showed that she can be a 3 level scorer by finishing at the rim, showing mid range touch and by shooting from beyond the arc. If she attacks offensively like this in the title game, Lutheran Northwest will be a tough beat.

Adeline Gill (2025, F, Niles Brandywine)

Gill has always carried a reputation as a tough and disciplined player. She held true to that form in the semifinals. Gill carried her team offensively, scoring a tough 16 points that she earned in a busy lane and with a shooter's touch around the rim. She finished with 16 points and 2 assists, having her hand in 20 of her team's 29 points. Gill also led her Niles Brandywine team with 5 rebounds. Gill ended her high school career the right way - playing with grit and heart.

Allison Bjorn (2025, G, Calumet)

Bjorn had an underrated game yesterday. I was impressed with athleticism and freedom of movement. I thought she started and stopped quickly and could get off the ground. Bjorn led the team with 4 assists and only turned it over twice in 31 minutes of game time. She also led the team with 7 rebounds and added 4 points.

Jalaya Banks (2027, G, Arbor Prep)

Banks is a guard with a bright future at Arbor Prep. She was relentless when chasing down a board, eventually securing a game high 13 rebounds. 4 of her boards were offensive and extending possessions is huge in a defensively dominated game like yesterday. Banks added 5 critical second half points and 3 assists to her stat line.

Paige Macavage (2026, G, Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest)

Macavage was really impressive in the Lutheran Northwest semifinal win. She definitely paced her team offensively, scoring a game high 14 points. She also led her team with 3 assists. Macavage's ability to both score and distribute was huge. She picked up 6 points off triples and 4 off the free throw line.

Karleigh Byrd (2026, G, Niles Brandywine)

In a defensive struggle, someone has to be doing the defending right? Well, I liked what Byrd brought to the table on that end of the floor. Not surprising, because she's been a relentless perimeter defender all season and has forced a lot of turnovers. Byrd brought energy and effort to the defensive end yesterday and it definitely caught my eye.

Eliza Bush (2025, G, Arbor Prep)

Bush is an experienced veteran that has seen a lot of winning at Arbor Prep over the last 4 years. It felt like her steady demeanor and clutch play was critical in Arbor Prep's win. When they needed a big play or shot offensively, Bush was willing and able. She finished the game with 9 points all from beyond the arc where she shot 3-6 from in the game. Bush was a factor on both ends of the floor. She showed good defensive vision on her way to securing 3 steals.

Keira Spiehs (2027, F, Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest)

Talk about a player that plays bigger than her height. Spiehs has always done that though and she did it again in the semifinals. I loved what she brought to the floor yesterday. Spiehs scored 5 points and grabbed 9 boards. She was a big time factor on the defensive end where she blocked 2 shots and picked up a steal. Spiehs is a solid all around athlete with a bright future in the game.

Jess Anderson (2027, G, Calumet)

Anderson definitely had a noteworthy semifinal performance. She's a talented guard that showed speed with the ball and quickness with her game. Anderson scored a team high 10 points, showing the ability to both create and find offense. She added 6 points and 3 assists to her totals as well.
