Big Numbers To Start

The girls high school basketball season has tipped off this week in Michigan. There are a lot of players that have put up big numbers to start in the first few days. Let's take a look at some of these talented players.

Kenna Hunt (2028, G, Jackson Lumen Christi)

Hunt opened up with a 27 point outburst in a win against Columbia Central. She has elite ball speed and can create buckets from all 3 levels.

Avery Lay (2025, SF, Chelsea)

Lay had 27 points in a hard fought win against Grass Lake. The Grand Valley State University commit is a highly efficient wing on both ends of the floor.

McKynley Gaddy (2027, PG, Michigan Center)

Gaddy had 15 points and 6 assists in a win verse Stockbridge. She's a lead guard that controls the pace and feel of a game and is probably one of the best pure passers in the state.

Kara Straub (2026, SF, Michigan Center)

In the win over Stockbridge, Straub finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds. The versatile forward has such a well rounded game. She can shoot, attack off the bounce and defend the passing lanes.

Mayrese Vieau (2028, G, Michigan Center)

Vieau finished with 13 points and 5 rebounds against Stockbridge. She seems to be a key piece is an elite "Big 3" at Michigan Center. Vieau is definitely a very high impact freshman.

Allie Crighton (2027, G, Orchard Lake St. Mary's)

Crighton scored 25 points and added 4 steals in a win against Bloomfield Hills. She's always been known as an elite shooter, but she's showed improved athleticism and perimeter defense.

Addison Chase (2026, G, Dexter)

Chase had a key 18 points in a close win against Brighton. 9 of those points came in the 4th quarter to help secure the win. Chase is a strong and efficient ball handler that can score at all 3 levels.

Sophie Fox (2027, F, Au Gres-Sims)

Fox had an eye-popping 29 point and 11 rebound double-double in the opening week. To pat myself on the back, I published something in the summer that said she's a constant double-double threat. This won't be the last.

Evelyn Stiglish (2026, SG, Plymouth)

Stiglish went off in a win against Thurston, finishing with 30 points. This is a player that deserves more pub for her play. If you look at her numbers, you can see she's a scorer at heart. But watch her play in person and you'll see that she brings it on the other end as well.

Nurray Fricke (2028, G, Big Rapids)

Fricke led Big Rapids in a hard fought win against Cadillac. She finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds. The rebound number is very impressive for a 5-7ish guard. Fricke doesn't wait for the board though. She uses her athleticism to chase it and get it.

Averie Zinn (2026, G, Genesee)

Zinn had video game numbers in a win against Birch Run. She finished with 35 points, 12 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists. Tell me she isn't a top 25 player in her class in Michigan.

Daisy Jackson (2026, PF, Gobles)

Jackson had a big time game in a win against Decatur. Her name should be on the map at this point. She had 19 points and 9 rebounds in the game. Jackson is a talented all around athlete that can get off the floor and attack the glass.
