The talent in Michigan's senior class is elite to say the least. There are a lot of players that will play critical roles in determining what the high school season looks like this year. While there are many more players that deserve to be mentioned, we singled out 5 players that we believe could be in line for a Player of the Year designation after the season.
Colleena Bryant (PG, Wayne Memorial)
Bryant is an elite lead guard, and not just on a state of Michigan scale. She's a national recruiting target for a good reason. Bryant is electric with the ball, holding a lot of options of what to do with it off the bounce. She can cross a defender over going either way and she can use a retreat dribble then attack with a quick first step. Bryant and Wayne Memorial are as talented as an team in the state this year.
Charlotte Miller (CG, Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard)
Miller led her team to the championship game last year and she leads a very talented AAGR squad again this year. Another trip to the Breslin Center would go a long way in her being the Player of the Year. Miller is an elite shooter with such a pure and smooth stroke. She can bury shots off the catch as well as hitting pull up jumpers. Miller is a true leader that sets the tone for her team.
Isis Johnson-Musah (SG, Detroit Edison)
Johnson-Musah is an elite basketball player that has committed to California. As always, Detroit Edison is a championship level team. It'd be hard not to name her the POY if she led her team to a state title. She has the ability to gain speed in a hurry and attack the rim off a straight line drive. Johnson-Musah can attack through contact by maintaining balance at all times and protecting the ball on her way. She's a well rounded player that will hit all corners of the stat sheet.
Anna Wypych (SG, Rockford)
Wypych is Butler commit that's ready to have a huge senior season. Huge not just in stats, but in results as well. Her Rockford team was only defeated twice last year, one in the state title game in OT. In 2023, Rockford had the upper hand. Wypych has the ability to lead her team back yet again. She's a high IQ basketball player that plays true TEAM basketball at a very high level. Wypych could dominate in almost every statistic, and she will if needed. But she prefers to dominate the Win/Loss column.
Alli Zajac (SF, Tecumseh)
Zajac is a tremendous all around athlete that just keeps improving her game. I think that Zajac and her Tecumseh team have realistic Breslin Center goals this season. If they make it, not naming Zajac POY would be very tough. The Eastern Michigan commit has a diverse game. She spaces the floor with her ability to shoot and pass off the perimeter. Zajac can score with the best of them, but doesn't need to be shot heavy to get hers.
