The Michigan Mystics are a well known program nationwide. They feature tons of teams and talent every grassroots season. This spring and summer will be just the same. We're going to look at 5 Mystic players that we feel are "must see" this season.
Layne Biggers (2026, F, Mystics Chosen 2026, Walled Lake Northern)
Biggers is a player that we saw during high school season and were very impressed with. She was one of the better post passers that we saw. Biggers could see the floor and make the right pass from both the high post and the paint. She's a solid post presence on the glass and offensively. Biggers has shown that she can work off the block and score. It will be exciting to see how a solid high school season rolls into grassroots season.
Avery Hannah (2027, G, Mystics 2027 P24, Haslett)
Hannah is coming off an CAAC Red All-Conference high school season and seems primed for a huge grassroots season. She stepped foot into high school ready to score and that hasn't changed. Hannah is an elite shooter from beyond the arc. Her and her shooting will be game changing on multiple occasions this summer. Just tune in so you don't miss it.
MaryGrace Luplow (2027, G/F, Mystics 2027 Chosen, Swan Valley)
Luplow is an exciting young talent. She has an excellent combination of strength and ball skills that you just don't see every day. Luplow is an aggressive player that will attack the basket and attack the boards as well. She is really a threat to score from all 3 levels. Perhaps the strongest part of Luplow's game is her basketball IQ and game between the ears.
Vanessa Rodriguez (2026, G, Michigan Mystics 2026 Ruh, Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard)
The Mystics 2026 Ruh team is just flat out scary and Rodriguez will be a big part of that. I was really impressed with Rodriguez's improved handles and floor leadership and I think that will continue to show itself during grassroots season. She's also so dangerous as a shooter with volleyball line type of range. Rodriguez might just show this summer that she should be a favorite to have a seat at the final table for Miss Basketball next year.
Julia Tkaczyk (2026, G, Mystics 2026 National, Anchor Bay)
I thought that Tkaczyk had one of the best and most effective grassroots seasons in the state last year. She really saw her stock rise a ton with the way she played. Tkaczyk showed a well rounded and steady offensive game. She showed the ability to find weaknesses in the defense and attack them. It will be fun to watch her follow up last year's terrific summer with another great one this year.
