4 Key Players In The Division 2 Quarterfinals

The Division 2 quarterfinals tip off tonight with some exciting matchups and players. We're going to look at 4 players, 1 from each game, that we think will be critical to seeing who moves on to the Final 4.

Clare Conzelmann (2025, G, Frankenmuth)

Conzelmann has played big in big games all season long. The quarterfinals against Gladstone is obviously a huge game and that's when the Lake Superior State commit shines the brightest. If she comes out and creates offensively and shoots with her usual efficiency, Frankenmuth will be tough to beat. She also has the ability to cause chaos on the defensive end with the way she can attack passing lanes and pick up steals and deflections.

Kayla Hairston (2026, G, Goodrich)

Goodrich takes on Tecumseh and we've talked a lot about their opponents elite backcourt. Well, Goodrich has their own elite backcourt. Hairston was a well rounded game that allows her touch all corners of the stat sheet. That will be big in the battle of backcourts. What might be biggest is her defensive prowess. Hairston is a really good perimeter defender. If she can force Tecumseh guards into uncomfortable positions, it will go a long way toward a win.

Alexis Asekomeh (2027, F, West Catholic)

There is star talent all over this game between West Catholic and South Christian. They split the regular season meetings. If Asekomeh has a game, West Catholic has a hood shot to make a return trip to the Final 4. She has the ability to dominate the paint and control the game at both ends of the floor. Defensively, Asekomeh can limit possessions to 1 and done as well as defend the rim and challenge shots.

Jayla Jackson (2026, G, Detroit Country Day)

Jackson has a big time game and can be as dynamic as anyone in the state. That will be on display when Detroit Country Day takes on DEPSA. Jackson is coming off a HUGE regional championship game in which she dropped a career high 33 points. Needless to say, she's playing her best basketball at the right time. If Jackson can stay hot offensively, it will help greatly in DCD's quest for the Final 4.
