Alabama is searching for a football coach to replace a legend. Saban will to hard, if not impossible to find an adequate replacement for. That being said, I'm going to give you 10 coaches that Gene Byrne, the Alabama AD, should at least consider.
Pete Carroll (Former Seahawks HC)
Ok, I don't really think this will happen, but it doesn't hurt for Byrne to make a call and see what's up. Carroll is 72, I get that, but he has the energy of a chihuahua on speed.
Kalen DeBoer (Washington)
It's hard not to love an offensive guru at the helm at Alabama. This seems to be the most popular prediction at the time of publication.
Kenny Dillingham (Arizona State)
We're probably a little early on this one, but why not here what he has to say. Dillingham has quite the reputation as an offensive mind. Could he do it on the big stage as the head man?
Jedd Fisch (Arizona)
Let's be real, Arizona has never been good at football. This season they went 10-3 and finished 3rd in a loaded PAC 10 conference. That'd be enough for me to send him a text.
Lane Kiffin (Ole Miss)
It's no accident that Ole Miss finished 11-2 and 2nd the in the SEC West. Kiffin has been at the helm for 2 of Ole Miss' 4 double digit win seasons this century.
Deion Sanders (Colorado)
Want to swing for the fences? This could be your choice. It could be the best decision Byrne has ever made. Or it could be the worst. I can see some amazing recruiting classes, but do we really know what kind of coach Prime Time is yet?
Steve Sarkisian (Texas)
It'd take a lot to lure him from the Longhorns, but if anyone can it's probably the Crimson Tide.
Dabo Swinney (Clemson)
This seems like a safe move. He's a proven winner that has 2 National Championships sandwiching 1 championship loss.
Mike Vrabel (formerly Titans HC)
Vrabel led the Titans to the playoffs in 3 of his 6 seasons at with the Titans. Players love to play for him and that could be huge with the freedom of movement that collegiate players currently have.
Kane Wommack (South Alabama)
They could stay very close to home and knock on the door of one of the brightest young coaches. Wommack has seen steady improvement since he took over.
Prediction: Kalen DeBoer
